Rare and Vintage T Shirts

There are some things that become social icons because they are a part of a social consciousness; becoming so popular that they endure the test of time. Sometime vintage and vintage style tee shirt design reflects this. Take for instance the TV show from decades back, I Love Lucy. This is a show that was extremely popular then and is still very popular; owing to this you may still come across the odd tshirt design that proclaims to love Lucy. Sometimes a particular year could be one that is special for nostalgic reasons or because it was a year of some great sporting achievement. Vintage computer t shirt designs can be very popular especially among those who pride themselves on being computer or tech geeks. While some tees will reflect old fashioned style of computers others will reflect a more modern preoccupation with all things technology driven.

Now some tshirt designs can have a cult following, making those t shirts both very rare and extremely expensive. If one is so inclined, one may end up paying a staggering $13,000 or more for the classic Run DMC Adidas T shirt. Connoisseurs and collectors can pay big money for that sort of thing. 

You would think that a t shirt is something that is made from standard knit cotton material so it can’t get really expensive correct? Well you would be wrong! Sometimes limited edition tees can be incredibly expensive for reasons of being designed by a top designer or because they are made from precious and semi precious material. For instance Dom Rebel’s T shirts are all handmade and hand painted and are therefore so expensive as to be considered a piece of art. One line of these skull print T-shirt comes studded with 1080 handset Swarovski crystals and is detailed with specialty paints imported from France. Cost? Over a 1000 dollars! Then there is this Dolce and Gabbana tee with metallic shades of gold and a glam rock attitude for men; a snug fit tee only for the sartorially adventurous man; costs you nearly 400 dollars!

So you have people willing to pay not just for the designer element in t shirts, but also for the uniqueness of wearing a vintage or retro style of t shirt.
