Alexis Bittar, the Jewelry Designer from New York

Born in 1968, Alexis Bittar who has been the maverick since his childhood had different sense of beauty from others, which lead him to choose a total different growing experience with others. He began to sell antique costume since his thirteen until eighteen. He had groomed an ardent for history and historical artifacts and had cultured a great appreciation for antique jewelries from his child period on account of the effects from his parents who were all university professors and antique dealers.The uniform education system has never been the ideal condition for Alexi to settle with, to be educated with, in his 22, his chose to drop out of school to start his journey of jewelry design with his ingenious ideas. Start from a zero state, he began to familiar with thousands of roads and street to sell his crafts, from the original initial origin from a small shop to big commercial mall, all his effort has never been in vain. He set up to design two series in 1990: one is lucite material, which has been used until now, another is Italian glass material, which take advantage of the luster which through the glass to create the sense of modern.By owning the intuition and highly sensation to design and commercial, Alexis gained the attention from Saks 5th Ave, the leading U.S. department as an exhibitor in the first time, their cooperative relationship lasted until nowadays. The similar brand quickly gained the popularity in the fashion industry, and the business gained great development soon. In 1995 the English department system Harrods became his constant customer, cooperation between he and Isetan Department Store in Japan is launched in the same year.Owning the high controversial character in the design industry, Alexis Bittar was invited to design the couture jewelry collection in first season for Burberry in 1999; in the progress he took application of the classic plaid-design of Burberry to Lucite materials. In 2002, he began to design accessory for Sex and the city with Patricia Field (the famous “Queen’s stylist” for Hollywood). He opened his first Alexis Bittar shop in the SOHO distribution in New York in 2004 and became the member of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers America) in 2005, which can be one of the highest honors for a designer in the circle.The renowned brand Lucite series which take advantage of sense of transparency and plasticity to make the colored Lucite materials appeared with the handmade fog surface luster and texture, with the inner side coated with paintings, by the irregular thickness the crafts would reflect different degree of light and sense of layers, which has became the collection of many celebrities. Though enjoys much popularity and attraction from the media, Alexis will never loosen the requirements for his crafts. Every jewelry launched by the brand Alexis Bittar will be handmade and completed in the DUMBO studio in Brooklyn, New York.
