Just because it's snowy doesn't mean it's dreary outside. Snow can be a lot of fun to play in! Don't use the excuse "It's too cold!" Get out there and have fun! There is no time to waste, snow only stays for a while! Then, it's summer and you can't play in the snow.

1) Bundle up! Jeans may be more stylish than puffy snow pants,How to Play in the Snow Articles but those snow pants will keep your legs nice and warm. Jeans are really bad with the snow- when they get wet, they will get hard and maybe even freeze and you'll be left uncomfortable. Thick socks or stockings and snow boots(cheap snow boots) are a must for your feet. Put on a coat with a sweater underneath. Wear a good hat that covers your ears. Wear a very warm pair of gloves, those yarn or polar-fleece ones probably won't cut it. Water proof gloves work best. Don't forget a scarf!

2) Throw snowballs! Go outside, make snowballs and throw them at the mean neighbor's house [be careful not to damage property]! Start a snowball fight! Team up with your friends against your other friends and hit them with snowballs without being hit yourself! If you are an adult, then kids will probably team up on you, but you have brains on your side! If you're an adult, be friendly! You might miss hitting kids a couple of times, or let yourself get hit by them.

3) Go sledding! Take a quick trip to a local store and get a cheap $5 sled (although the cheap round ones go the fastest, they tend to break easily, so buy spares) and join the kids in the popular sled hill. Or, better yet, buy a tube for a swimming pool. Make sure that it's big enough to fit multiple people at a time. Everyone will be begging for you to share! If you have money to burn, get a really nice sled with a steering wheel and brakes (about a hundred dollars). These will last you a long while and handle jumps pretty decently.

4) Go skating! If you have ice skates, go skating on the local pond (make sure that it's frozen!). Organize a friendly hockey game with your friends.

5) Build a snow fort! Compact the snow with your feet first, then cut it into blocks. Build up the snow "bricks" and put some 2x4s on top so there is a hole in the middle that you can climb through. Add some more bricks on top and you have a regular snow fortress!

6) When no one else is around, you could make a snow house! This is easy to make! Use a part (or all) of your backyard, and make hallways by pushing the snow to the sides. For the rooms, do the same. You can also make objects to put in your rooms like lamps or chairs.
