Nowadays, an increasing number of college students are inclined to insist on a job just for a short time, maybe two or three months. Why they change the job periodically? Is it helpful to their career? Here I want to explore this issue with regards to two respects. One is the type of changing a job, the other is the influence of changing a job.
As far as I am concerned,
the type of changing a job can be classified in two kinds.
Firstly, a new word "Ennui of Probationary period" becomes more and more popular, whose meaning is that the first and second week is the honeymoon period of the employees, while entry after third or fourth week, new employees truly enter into a working state and encounter all sorts of troubles ignored before, accordingly the work pressure increase and the present job seems unsatisfactory. As a result, employees will have the sense of loss and quit this job.
Secondly, more and more people tend to change a job after a relatively long period, perhaps 6 months or 1 year. If we research into this phenomenon carefully, we can discover that this is commonly seen in the coastal cities. Here we can discuss it from objective and subjective aspects.
Objectively speaking, employees had to leave the company because of their family or some objective factors, for instance, their family would leave for another city or the employee had to apply for a higher academic degree.
To be subjective, employees are likely to change a job in that the salary is too low for them or the work environment is not fresh to them any longer. Their vigor and passion have vanished after repetitious work content, which would be the key reason for changing a job periodically.
Now, let's concentrate on the influence of changing a job constantly. It is well-known that there are disadvantages and advantages for changing a job, I hold the view that the shortages outweigh the advantages. My reasons are as follows.
At first, changing a job is a waste of time and vigor. You will at least spend 2 months to quit the present job and find a good new job. However, after you get the new job and work for 2 months, you will change your attitude and suffer the pressure again about this job and plan to find a second one. This is a vicious circle. We are supposed to curb it fundamentally, that is to say, enjoy the job you are taking on now, and make a clear future vocation career plan. Then you are ensured to stay at a post for a long time.
Secondly, changing a job is not beneficial to your career. As I pointed out above, if you repeatedly change a job, you will never be experienced on a certain field and your professional knowledge will never be broadened and expanded. Because when you obtain a job, you are always designed to deal with the basic assignments and tasks. Since then, how can you promote and upgrade yourself?
In conclusion, if you are involved in the situation whether change a job or not, just keep it in mind that look before you leap! It is advisable for you to work out an occupation career planning and then you will be more prudent to cope with the period of development bottleneck.
