What Are The Basic Ingredients For Homemade Cleaners?

Another products used for DIY home cleaning are – salt, liquid dish-washing detergent, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, borax, Oxy-cleaner, ammonia and even bleach. I personally stopped using bleach long ago, because it is toxic and damages the fibers. If you know how to mix these ingredients you won't need any commercial cleaners. Another reason why you should choose homemade cleaning solutions is they're cheap and you can use them in cooking, after all that's their primal purpose.

I'll give you some of the recipes my mother told me and what I have gathered form friends, but before that we'll continue with the benefits of making your own cleaning solutions. Homemade detergents are not harmful for you – when using commercial ones you have to wear protective gloves and still can get and allergic reaction. While with the homemade once the risk is minimal, because there aren't any dangerous chemicals.

Moreover you are not harming the environment, when flushing vinegar into the drain, because it is plan based product, soda is naturally occurring mineral and hydrogen peroxide turns into plain water. Another advantage is when you make a cleaning solution it is universal, for example baking soda can absorb water, neutralize bad odour, and remove tile grout. Diluted vinegar can be used for cleaning mirrors, glass carpet and upholstery stains.

Homemade cleaners save you space, since they're universal you won't be needing dozens of bottles stuck under the sink. And now for some useful recipes which will help you clean and deodorize your home fast and easy. Get a glass jar, fill it halfway with baking soda, add essential oil by choice, pierce small holes into the lid and you're ready with your personal air freshener. The soda will absorb any unpleasant smell and by shaking it the essential oil will freshen the air.

I assume all of you have faced the red wine stain – on carpet or upholstery and it requires professional assistance. Well not anymore – mix equal parts baking soda and salt, apply to the stained area and vacuum after an hour or two. The solution will not only absorb the liquid, but also the stain leaving your carpet look as new. For stubborn stains use hydrogen peroxide, it has bleaching qualities but without the harmful effect of bleach.

As we said before diluted vinegar is an universal cleaner, but you can make the solution with lemon or lime juice instead. The result will be the same but you'll also freshen the home and improve air quality. And for rugs and carpets I have the ultimate cleaning recipe – in contains ammonia, vinegar, water and mild dish-washing detergent. Here are the quantities you'll need – half teaspoon, one teaspoon, half a cup, three tablespoons.

Mix everything until you make thick foam, get a sponge and apply the foam on the area you want to clean. Remember to use only the foam, because the liquid can damage the fibers and the scent of ammonia will be absorbed by the fabric. You'll see how all the dust and dirt is trapped into the foam, bringing back the colours of your textile flooring.
