SAIC Roewe's New Energy Models

Toyota's Expanding Hybrid Lineup

Toyota's pragmatic approach to NEVs has paid off, with the FAW Toyota Prius selling 267 units in March. The Lexus CT200h hybrid accounted for 25% of Lexus sales, with 1,456 units sold in the same month. Toyota's booth featured 16 hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and electric (EV) models, making up over 30% of their show cars. Notably, the 30 kWh lithium battery electric version of the RAV4, with a range of about 160 km on a full charge, is expected to hit the North American market in the first half of next year before arriving in China.

Honda's Competitive Edge

Honda showcased the CR-Z hybrid and INSIGHT hybrid, both set for release in China in the second half of the year. The CR-Z features Honda's IMA hybrid system, with a maximum engine output of 84 kW (128 hp) at 6000 rpm and a motor output of 10 kW. It is the world's first hybrid vehicle with a six-speed manual gearbox. The CR-Z is expected to perform well in the U.S. market and make a strong impression in China. Additionally, Honda plans to release the Fit electric car by the end of the year, equipped with a 20 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering an estimated range of 122 km.
