Buick and WIRED have joined forces to unveil an expansive new store in New York City's Times Square, just in time for the holiday season. This collaboration marks the second consecutive year Buick has sponsored the WIRED Store, which promises to be a tech lover's paradise with over 10,000 square feet of cutting-edge gadgets and interactive technology displays, including a Human Wind Tunnel.
Buick is thrilled to present the largest WIRED Store to date, strategically located in the bustling heart of Times Square. The store will be open from noon to 7 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, from November 18th to December 24th, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day. This tech haven will feature hundreds of the latest and greatest consumer products, including the 2012 Buick LaCrosse with eAssist, which has been honored as the "2012 Best of What’s New Technology" by Popular Science magazine.
Visitors to the WIRED Store can immerse themselves in a variety of innovative technology displays. One of the standout attractions is the Buick Human Wind Tunnel, which subjects participants to winds of up to 40 miles per hour. The store will capture photos of participants and share the most aerodynamic individuals on Facebook, adding a fun and interactive element to the shopping experience.
Craig Bierley, Director of Buick Advertising and Promotions, stated, "Buick will offer WIRED Store visitors an entertaining and engaging way to discover the new LaCrosse and learn about its fuel-saving technologies. The Human Wind Tunnel and LaCrosse eAssist interactive display truly demonstrate what the WIRED Store is all about – they bring technology to life."
The 2012 Buick LaCrosse with eAssist is a marvel of modern automotive engineering, featuring regenerative braking, lithium-ion battery technology, optimized aerodynamics, engine start-stop, and fuel shut-off features. These advancements enable the LaCrosse to achieve an impressive 36 miles per gallon on the highway, all while maintaining the luxurious ride quality that Buick is known for.
To enhance the shopping experience, the WIRED Store has integrated Aurasma technology, which uses visual cues from the real world to deliver content to mobile devices. Buick is the first automaker to utilize this innovative technology. Jennifer Rapp, General Manager at Aurasma, commented, "Buick is an iconic brand that has embraced technology and truly understands today’s modern consumer. Together, we have created a tailored mobile experience that truly bridges the physical and virtual worlds. Buick and Aurasma give attendees an innovative way to shop the WIRED Store and learn more about Buick’s eAssist technology."
The partnership between Buick and WIRED for the grand opening of the WIRED Store in Times Square is a testament to the seamless integration of technology and consumer experience. With interactive displays, cutting-edge products, and innovative technologies like Aurasma, the store offers a unique and engaging shopping experience that bridges the gap between the physical and virtual worlds.
