This can be taken as a move to help people buy good fuel efficient cars after scrapping their old cars that can not only help to save money, but also reduce global warming.

For those people who have sold or sent their car for scrap, they are required by law and DVLA authorities to notify them about it, and get a statutory off road notification. There are very less ways of not paying road tax for the scrap cars, due to new laws. But these laws can be lowered if people follow some guidelines or suggestions.

A) Think of owning low emission vehicles.

Emissions in vehicles are always measured in grams per kilometer. This helps people to save money on fuel and tax cost saving on emissions. The car owners can then claim car tax prices back from authorities.

B) Avoiding purchase of old cars.

Vehicles or cars that are registered on or after certain time period (2001 year after) fixed by vehicle authorities, have to pay taxes as per emissions of their cars. Currently the prices for the emissions are between £20 and £435 per annum. Anyone purchasing a new car with lower emission of below 100 g per km can get tax exemption of £0 bucks per year. Emissions above 100 g/Km can fetch a car owner, anything starting from £20, which can increase as per the emission amount of the car.

Older cars emit more CO2 that pollute environment. Cars which fall in category up to Band D get tax exemption for the first year. So people who want to scrap their cars and get new cars should take these laws into consideration.

C) Follow DVLA Rules.

All the DVLA Rules must be followed by acquiring right forms for selling, buying, declarations and other details like scrapped car, date, vendor or the scrap car company name etc. For those car owners who send their cars for scrap, they ideally should not ask for any refund as that may create issues regarding the registration number transferred or being retained.
