If part of a business networking group you may be required to do a guest speech. Speaking in public can be one of the most terrifying things for anybody,Help with speaking in public Articles but with a few helpful pieces of advice you should be able to conquer some of your fear and be able to get through it.

The best advice anybody can receive is to interact with your audience, maybe admit you’re not the best at speaking to a lot of people and they will be a lot more forgiving if you slip up. If you can build a rapport with your audience then it’s less likely that you will be nervous. It will be more like you are having a conversation with them and you will fly through it. Imagine how amazed they would be if you admitted from the start you may be nervous but then gave them a faultless presentation.

Another trick, and I know it sounds cliché, but is to imagine your audience in their underwear. Imagine that they are a lot more nervous than you are. It really works.

Many people learn in different ways or can focus in different ways. One thing I remember from being in School is doing tests to see which kind of learner I am. Some people such as myself are kinaesthetic learners. This means we learn by doing things, so involve your audience, depending on what you are presenting then get someone on stage, etc. Some people are visual learners which mean they focus better by looking at things. A good idea would be to have a presentation prepared maybe on PowerPoint.  Some people learn better just from listening, this is called Aural learning so they are more likely to focus just from you talking to them and the last learning style is read or write so again have a presentation with some text as well as images. This will be aimed at them and you could also leave a pen and paper on everybody’s chairs just in case some people want to take notes. This way you’re appealing to everybody and it’s more likely you are going to engage your whole audience and they will all take in what you are saying.

What some people do when in front of a large crowd is pretend they are only talking to one person there. Imagine that nobody else is paying attention. It makes it feel like you are having a conversation as opposed to doing a presentation in front of a crowd. And if somebody asks you a question then switch the focus onto them like you are only talking to them. If you don’t feel comfortable with that then an idea is to ask a lot of questions. This way you are interacting with the audience constantly and the focus won’t be just on you the whole time, but it will be on the audience members as well and it means you are engaging in conversation with people and they are getting to know you better.
