Let’s talk about the Schrade SCHF9 hunting knife.
This knife come with a full tang, and really has the ability to double as a survival knife should the user find trouble outdoors. The intention was to create a knife that basically could do almost anything, anywhere that it was needed. The knife is just over twelve inches long, and has a weight just under a pound at 15.9 ounces. This knife has quite excellent balance, and comes with a very ergonomic handle that is slip resistant during the wet conditions the owner may encounter when processing game, or fish. This knife has a very strong blade, and is heavy enough for hunting as well other outdoor activities. Hunters, and survivalist will respect this knife.
The sheath for this knife is a durable nylon that happens to have a kydex lining to it. The sheath has a pocket that can be used for carrying smaller things like a pocket knife, or other small utilities. The handle, which is quite easy to grip, is made of kraton, and has notches for the thumb and fore finger which give added grip and control when using the knife. The handle is a generous 5.7 inches in length, and comes with a lanyard hole if needed.
The blade on this Schrade knife is a healthy 6.4 inches in length, and a fat .25 inches in thickness. The blade is made out of 1095 high carbon steel. The edge of the knife is quite smooth for this drop point blade and is perfect for an outdoors man or a hunter facing chores such as skinning, cutting through bones, or chopping up some thin branches. The edge holds up for quite a long time, but keep in mind, the blade is not stainless. So the owner must apply some mineral oils periodically to prevent rust, and keep the tool dry between uses. At 15.9 ounces, and impeccable balance, this hunting knife is ready for duty.
To sum it up, This is a great hunting knife for the price. The handle is slip resistant, and the blade is thick and strong, even for a prying task if needed. I believe the owner will appreciate what a heavy strong knife can found for the cost. Game hunters and survivalists alike will respect this heavy duty out doors knife. Even a person who does not get into the woods much, would find plenty of uses for this knife around the yard, and on the home stead.
