Goregaon East will add one more scintillating landmark infrastructure in its kitty. In the 137th meeting session of the Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis approved the INR 3832 Crore budget for the year 2015-2016.
It clears the hurdle ensuing in the path of the BMC’s plan to construct a flyover in Goregaon East MMR. The flyover will ease out the traffic volume in the Goregaon-Mulund line.
Currently, more than 35,000 motorists use the SV Road junction across MTNL Office in Goregaon East. The new flyover proposed by BMC will connect the Link Road to the Western arm of Goregaon clearing a major bottleneck between the two parts of the suburban town. The traffic line flowing between Goregaon and Malad will streamline once the flyover is opend for public use.
The BMC flyover is a part of the Goregaon and Mulund Link Road which has been conceived to bring down the travel time by more than an hour. It is being constructed as part of the single ticket approach adopted by the MMRDA to combine all transport systems.
In a commitment to resolve he traffic issues in Mumbai, BMC flyover in Goregaon East is the first major decision taken as part of the Mumbai Development plan 2005-2025. The meeting also saw the presence of BMC Commissioner, Sitaram Kunte, MMRDA commissioner UPS Madan, transport commissioner Mahesh Zagade and other parties.
The redesigning of the present roads and inclusion of flyovers in the infrastructure development in Goregaon East will improve the travel experience for daily commuters, especially those who use public transport systems. In addition to boosting the existing infrastructure, the development program for BMC flyover will also prove advantageous for residents and the real estate project developers.
The approval for the BMC flyover in Goregaon East will bear two projectes along the elevated corridor. It will eliminate the traffic at Chedda Nagar junction. The traffic condition in Chedda Nagar and the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road can be dissipated by sanctioning the flyover project on a fast-paced track. The cost of the project is estimated at INR 250 Crore. This project is part of the INR 1005 Crore infrastructure redevelopment plan for MMR ranked under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-I and II.
City residents will enjoy a hassle-free driving experience with the introduction of Eastern Freeway, Sahar Elevated Road, SCLR and the BMC flyover in Goregaon East MMR. Other significant decisions taken in addition to the BMC Flyover are the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) and Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro corridor. The 2nd phase of the Monorail, flyovers and creek bridges will also grow. The development of road network for the city and also the Metropolitan Region is also on the cards with the BMC flyover. The construction of the flyover in Goregaon East will commence with the Wadala Ghatkopar Thane Kasarvadavlai Metro Corridor and the Dahisar- Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd corridors.
