I worked at many different jobs in my life before going into business on my own. Most people I knew could not figure out why I just didn’t stay with one, and move up the proverbially ladder. The truth is at the time I was not sure myself, except that something inside told me it was time to leave; I had learned what was needed to move on.

I worked at many different jobs in my life before going into business on my own. Most people I knew could not figure out why I just didn’t stay with one,Would you consider yourself a diamond in the ruff waiting to shine? Articles and move up the proverbially ladder. The truth is at the time I was not sure myself, except that something inside told me it was time to leave; I had learned what was needed to move on.

My real motivation was to find my one big break in life, where someone would notice that I was a diamond in the rough, and with a bit of polishing I could really shine. I always put a 110% into my work, and preformed my tasks like it was my own business. Most of my employers really respected my work ethic; they would rely on me to be the one they could count on. That was great, but it did not mean more money or advancement, just additional responsibility.

The good news is with each job I had, brought me closer to what I believed to be my destiny. I learned a little something about business from each one of those employers such as: employees, customer service, merchandising, sales, inventory, hiring, training, business management and tons more.

Eventually I went into my own ventures, failed miserably at the beginning, until I developed my own unique business style. Today over 20 years later I have had many successful ventures, and developed over the years what I call my own brand of conducting business.

The point to the story

If all those years ago I had not listened to my inner voice, maybe I would be working at some job that made me feel very unhappy and unfulfilled. If you’re a diamond in the rough waiting to shine, then simply start polishing yourself, and with time the right setting will appear for you to be placed in.
