Generally the first thing to decide if you are looking at the cost of a helicopter is whether you are after a 2-seater or a bigger multi-passenger version.

In general though a “normal”, affordable and used 2-seater can be bought for around $100,000. New helicopters start at around $200,000. The Mosquito XE is for sale Ready To Fly or in different kit versions starting at $32,000 USD, a great cost for an ultralight helicopter. However this is a single-seater helicopter and it’s more of a gadget, than an actual way to transport yourself with.
Robinson R-22 – Price: USD $250,000
One of the most popular brands on earth as it pertains to helicopters is the Robinson. Although Bell Helicopter at one time made more choppers then any other firm in the world, Robinson choppers are renown for costing less to purchase and run – and being typically more frugal whilst not detracting from quality.
The price of a new R-22 starts at $250,000. However, there are many exceptional deals to be discovered for used R 22’s, normally beginning from around $100,000 – $150,000 . Due to the R22’s cheap operating costs, it’s frequently used as a training helicopter. The R22 is a two seater, allowing it to be extremely responsive, making it light and giving it a very low inertia to flight control inputs. In a nutshell, it’s interesting to fly. However, the R22 is not forgiving of sluggishness or pilot error, and is actually not very suited for being a training helicopter due to this.
Robinson R-44 Raven – Price – USD $340,000
