The Sony Xperia Sola is another Sony only branded smartphone.
After Sony gave us the now famous Xperia S, now comes the new Xperia handset called Sola. So what is new about this Sony branded handset? Let me tell you about it and just read on.
Sony made the Sola with the new "floating touch" touch screen interface. Sony explained this new technology on the Sola. The floating touch will allow you to easily control a cursor without touching the phone's screen at all. Magic? Not really. Basically you let your finger hover over the phone's panel to do the trick. It will then move the phone's cursor and select a link. All you have to do after that is to simply tap to launch whatever it is that you want to open or access. This may be quite hard for first timers on this touch screen interface, but with a lot of practice you will get the hang of it.
Sony's research engineer said that mutual capacitance is used on this handset. This is basically used on most touch screens of today. But the thing is Sola's screen is quite different. This is because its mutual capacitance sensor picks up physical touch, and it uses a separate self capacitance sensor to pick up signals of up to 22mm away from the phone's screen.
What else can this handset offer you? Well, it is an NFC-enabled handset (just like new handsets of today). With it, you will be able to allow and trigger actions on your handset things like toggling your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. All you have to do is to touch an NFC- compatible device or tag and you're good to go. A good example of this is an associated tag for your Bluetooth. Now all you have to do is to place that tag wherever you want and whenever you are near that tag, it will then automatically turn on your Bluetooth. Now that is cool!
What is more, the phone comes in with a 3.7" display screen which uses Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine technology. It ships with a powerful 1GHz dual-core processor and paired with 512MB worth of RAM. The phone may ship with Android Gingerbread but the Ice Cream Sandwich update will soon land on this handset this summer. Sony also said that the Sola will be available in 3 colors namely: black; red; and white.
With the impending release of the Ice Cream Sandwich update on this handset, you can expect more cool features on the Sony Xperia Sola.
