If you are planning to go on a trip to Great Britain,
you are surely up for a memorable and enticing trip. The UK has so many popular attractions that will call your attention once you start planning your trip, so it will be really difficult for you to decide which way to go. However, if you are planning to go for a week, you can arrange to become a part of one of the many local tours that are offered by companies. Since they have everything in order, they can take you to more places without wasting any time. On the other hand, if you enjoy travelling your own way, you might not be interested in these tours. Usually, the best place to start your tour of the UK is the heart of it; London. From there you can head off to Cambridge to enjoy some time on the River Cam and then proceed on to York for some architecture. Edinburgh, with its scenic highlands can be another ideal location to visit where you can take a detour to Loch Ness, Fort William and Urquhart Castle. You can also visit Liverpool if you are looking up to visit Stratford-upon-Avon. Wales is another must-visit place while you are in the UK. Last, there is the quaint architectural town of Bath that can also be visited. Hence, while you are in the UK for a trip, you won't find much time to stay put at one place. There are high chances that even if you leave an itinerary of your trip with your family back home, they won't be able to reach you so conveniently, and if you are trying to contact them, you will have to look long and hard to find a public telephone to do so. While the distinct red telephone boxes might be found after some searching in cities, you won't likely find many of them in small towns. Even when you do find these phone boxes, you will be making very expensive international calls. A few minutes' call can cost you a lot of money which might not be a suitable option for you. If you are lucky, you can find a walk-in telecomm outlet that might offer you slightly cheaper rates for international calls. However, the best way you can avoid all this hassle is by taking along a cell phone with you, along with the right cellular network. If you want, you can use your own cellular network by getting an international roaming package for the UK. However, this is again going to be a very expensive alternative that would put certain restrictions on your calling time if you don't want to go back to huge phone bills. A much better option than that would be to get a UK SIM card or UK cell phone rental for the duration of your trip. If you are getting a UK SIM card, you can get cheaper rates for local UK calls and data services while international calling rates would also be lower. This would allow you the liberty of using your phone more often without worrying about your budget. However, getting a SIM would only be useful if your phone is unlocked or you can get it unlocked by taking it to your provider. In case of locked phone, a much better option for you is to get UK cell phone rental while you leave your own phone behind. You can rent this phone with a local area network for the duration of your trip to the UK. Since the network is local, call charges of UK cell phone rental are still low. Once you are done with your trip, you can return the phone before leaving for your home country.
