Types of Data Dictionary
There are two types of data dictionary that are given below
Integrated Data Dictionary
This type of data dictionary is part of DBMS and is further classified into Active Data Dictionary and Passive Data Dictionary. In active data dictionary the record of each access is maintained by the DBMS whereas in passive data dictionary day to day processing is not maintained by the data dictionary
Freestanding Data Dictionary
A type of data dictionary that is not part of the DBMS is called freestanding data dictionary.
