Boosting your system's speed is surprisingly easy. All you need is some knowledge regarding your Operating System and the right tools for the job. Lucky for you Windows already has some installed tools that you can use in order to speed up your startup and fix errors that may be hampering PC performance. Some of the tools that you can use include the Windows Experience Index,The Basics of Getting Your PC to Run Faster Articles Disk Cleanup, and the Check disk app. The Windows Experience Index allows you to measure the capabilities of your computer's software and hardware configuration.

The Windows Experience Index will allow you to measure the capabilities of each hardware or software installed within your computer. Those measurements are then placed in a number scheme called a based score. A high base score means that your Windows will perform better than an OS with a lower base score, especially when utilizing resource intensive apps. In order to open this nifty feature all you need to do is to open the performance information and tools icon found in the control panel screen.

For disk cleanup and check disk, both apps can be found on the Start menu screen. The disk cleanup tool allows you to clean all the junk files and unused cache on your Operating System. On the other hand, the Check Disk tool will allow you to find any problems with your computer's registry. It will check on missing indexes and strings that are necessary for your programs. You can actually type in "chkdsk" on your command prompt in order to activate the check disk tool. In most OS, it will prompt you if you want to run as administrator, just type in your administrator password in order to run the app. Both these tools should be opened in monthly so that you will be able to remove any DLL errors or any registry problems within Windows. If the problems still persist then try typing in "chkdsk /f /r" on your command prompt screen, by typing this command you will be able to activate the extra feature of Check Disk and you will be able to fix those bad sectors on your hard disk.

There are several other tools inside your OS which can help your PC run smoother, one of which is the device manager app. The device manager allows you to check the various drivers that are installed within your hard disk. As you may already know, drivers are needed in order to identify the different hardware devices installed in your PC. Drivers provide manufacturer instructions so that your Windows will be able to know how to properly use your printer or your web cam. There are basically two types of drivers that are installed on your computer, one of which is the digitally signed and the other is the unknown type. The digitally signed ones are actually those types of drivers that are approved by the manufacturer while the unknown types are the ones which are created by different programmers. It is important for you to only use the digitally signed drivers since they are safer and they are tested. On the other hand, if you are unable to find the one that is given by the manufacturer then you can just use the unknown types. Just remember to install an antivirus and antimalware program in order to find out if the file is destructive or not.

Along with installing the right driver, you also need to install their updates. This is usually the best course of action when it comes to system errors related to some DLL files. Updates are actually additional codes and instructions provided by the hardware makers. Those updates are important so that your computer will be able to run smoothly and so that there will be no conflicts with your devices. In order to get those additional codes all you need to do is go through the device manager found in control panel and just click on the update button for each device. You can also manually check the update through the use of the additional programs provided by the manufacturer. Usually, the OEM of the hardware will include an update feature so that you will no longer need to search the internet.

If there are any other problems with your PC then you can run the troubleshooter app. The troubleshooter program can be found on your control panel screen. Click on the Start button and on the search box, type in "troubleshooter". You can also click on the icon of this app which is found on the system and security screen. Those are just some of the added features on Windows which you can use in order to speed up you PC.
