On a more general note, there are certain disadvantages to using refilled or remanufactured cartridges. These may smear and bleed as documents are being printed and waste paper in the process. In the worst case scenario, they may even damage your printer. Most manufacturers do not honour the warranty if a user utilizes a cartridge other than the one that is supposed to be used. This is because they know that refilled or remanufactured cartridges can cause potential damage to a printer. This makes a lot of sense because the technology used for manufacturing cartridges differ for every company. To truly get the most value out of an investment use only what is the best and those are HP print cartridges.
