The brand Wryst offers stunning quality timepieces defying the likes of much higher-priced Swiss watchmaking competitors.
Wryst is creating advanced watch designs with a futuristic style. Watch designer Jacques Fournier decided in 2012 to start producing exquisite timepieces at a much lower price than most competitors.
Jacques was bored to see such an unreasonable high price point for Swiss watches with a more industrial and complex shape. His idea was to produce such modern timepieces for less money and offer them to the public for a fraction of the price.
The newly born concept design was more intricate than most round face tickers on the market. It, therefore, requires CNC machining, which is usually more costly and requires programming skills and knowledge.
The first collection ever produced was the reference Wryst Airborne which benefited from hard black DLC coating - more scratchproof than black PVD - and a K1 mineral crystal said to be more shatterproof than sapphire.
All four models with green, orange, red, and yellow colors have only been produced in a small series of 75 units. Twelve to fifteen months later, all watches were almost sold-out, and the following collections were already available in the exclusive online boutique.
The brand opted out of having the stocks sold in retail shops as retailers always take a big chunk of the profits. So the task was to create an attractive boutique and start marketing the Wryst collections online.
At the time, most Swiss brands' competitors already had their distributors, so the task was challenging.
A crucial selling point is that the case and also the bracelets would undoubtedly look like no others. And this is what the brand was good at. The key was to offer an alternative look to a sportive style inspired by extreme outdoor sports and dedicated to professional athletes.
In 2015, the Isle of Man TT organizers contacted the brand to offer Wryst to become the official timing partner of the world's fastest motorcycle road racing event. After several weeks of negotiations, Wryst produced a special edition watch dedicated to being offered to the TT race winners but also available to the public.
The first series was sold-out the first year by maintaining high standards and producing the watches in the Swiss traditions. This collaboration lasted until 2018.
Today the Swiss independent brand has several collections of chronographs watches, automatic and quartz with various dimensions but all limited to small productions of 99 units or less.
The high-end version of the Wryst collections is the Racer automatic watch with 38hrs power reserve and an open case back. Most dial details are directly inspired by gears found inside racing engines. From the hour hand, the patented bracelet attachment unique system and aired case edges, every aspect are there to remind of racing sports.
Several options are also available for the bracelets. A two-tone band with sidelines in silicone or a bold, large leather option with two lines of stitchings and the signature stamp on the back are both developed. Even the clasps are bespoke with an intelligent and ergonomic shape found nowhere else.
With only small quantities produced, every single unit on offer is a highly coveted piece perfect for collectors. Every single timepiece will become unavailable, leading to the following collections.
