When you are considering between taking live classes or attending affordable online colleges, you will want to choose wisely because the two are in fact so different. One of the biggest differences is with the class format itself. With online courses, you can log on and take the courses whenever you want, provided you keep up with the pace of the course. This is a great benefit for busy people. With live courses, you will need to put in face time at the class at scheduled days and times. With online courses, it's pretty easy,  however, to put aside your course for another day, and so this is not a great option for procrastinators.

The college experience itself is also pretty different between affordable online colleges and traditional schools. With traditional schools, you have the ability to be active on the campus by being involved in various organizations, attending or even playing in sporting events, and joining social organizations like sororities and fraternities. For some people, however, these things are just simply not important, and attending school over the internet works just fine. An online school gives you a route to earn a degree in a convenient way, and while it doesn't offer many of the social benefits of a traditional school, many do have online chat rooms and forums where you can communicate with your fellow students and even the professors, too.

As you can see, there are some major differences between the two options that you will need to consider. Because of how very different the experiences are between affordable online colleges and traditional schools are, often the choice is fairly easy for potential students to make. If you do need the convenience of an online education but would like a social student environment, you should make an effort to find an online school that offers more social benefits, as there are some differences in this area between the schools offering internet-based degree programs.
