If we were to go behind in history to find out the origin or genesis of the building block, it is really surprising to find out that the concept of building block as a tool for kids’ development has been in existence for more than a century. As early as 1693 John Lohke first found that the use of building block shall aid in the development of the child.

It is heartening to note that the tools of child development and education have been in existence for so long. However, it is also equally saddening to note that such a good concept has been put in the dark and has not been made popular purposefully or whatsoever. The concept of building block is to mildly evoke the analytical and technical skills of kids. There are games specifically meant to improve certain aspects of child growth. One such multifaceted tool is the building block which aids in many facets of child development.

A building block can be a small piece made out of plastic or wood or even light pebble or stone. What is so special about this building block? Well, the specialty lies in the application of the building block. This building block can be developed into a mega size jigsaw puzzle wherein the child can try to build a structure using various units of this building block.

Various versions are available with the building block. With the building block, you can construct dams, bridges, buildings and even historical and popular figures of the society. Pieces of a particular person can be made mixed with others and a kid can be given a reference sheet where the whole picture shall be indicated. The child has to associate each building block and combine the pieces to form a particular historical figure or political figure or make a dam or a bridge. The building block has also been found to enhance and develop the spatial, analytical and math skills of your child. You can teach numbers and alphabets using the same basic units of the building block. Sky is the limit to the number of aspects that you can teach your kid with the building block. What are you waiting for? Go get your child a good set of building block to boost his/her creativity and intelligence. Remember, intelligence is not born; it is made or molded.
