Avoid jumpy,Essay Writing Techniques to Make It Flow Smoothly and Cohesively! Articles choppy writing!

Like a river has a lot of turns and uneven pathways, but the sailor makes sure the people on board do not feel the trials and tribulations. As a writer, it is your job to make sure that your reader does not lose the direction or the point that you are trying to make. The best way to make sure you do not lose your readers’ attention or that you do not confuse them is to make sure you do not write in choppy fragments.

Some tips and techniques!

Many amateur writers find it hard to write an essay that is appreciated by the teacher. The main problem is that their essay is just a word vomit, not organized nor linked.  Let us discuss some essay writing techniques that will help you to create a flow in your writing.

  1. First of all, you need to develop an outline. This cannot be emphasized more because it is in an outline you can organize your thoughts which are a jumble in your head. If you just start writing directly, then your essay will resemble your head- a muddle of thoughts and ideas!
  2. Once you have written your outline, organize it according to the importance of key points or chronological order, whichever you want.
  3. Write introductory as well as conclusive sentences for each of the paragraph.
  4. Use transitory words and make sure the paragraphs are integrated together.

Make your paragraphs linked to create flow!

Your paragraphs should be in transition that is they should not be just piled on top of each rather one paragraph should be built upon each other. You have to create cohesive movement between your paragraphs to create a sound structure. If you want the reader to understand your argument, you have to build up your argument in a logical manner, not throw words at them.

Read your work again and again!

The only way to avoid a broken and choppy piece of writing is to read again and again and try to find cohesive points. You can arrange the paragraphs, if you think that the order is wrong or the flow does not make sense. But, make sure that you do this with the first draft or the outline. If you are not satisfied, write a second draft to tighten your structure.

Develop a sense of cohesion from the start to ensure at the end you do not have any troubles.
