Ask your children if they are willing to grow up and you may be sure no one would answer No. Children may find adults’ world attractive as it seems to have much freedom in choices and behavior. The driving force for children to be mature is that their parents are used to restrict their freedoms and choices whereas parents themselves can do what they want, where and when they want.

Some scholars try to find the answer to the question of children’s willingness to become adults in psychological aspects. They say that when children begin to see themselves as individuals, distinct from their families then they have reached the first stage of maturity. The pursuit of individuality often comes in the form of a quest for identity, during which the goal is self discovery and self knowledge. The maturity theme is of great significance to young people as it manifests a sense of reassurance. Children are always interested in knowing something from adults life where a person can go anywhere he wants and explore the things which are usually closed and forbidden for children. The psychological aspect of such willingness lies in great number of taboos, and these taboos are even growing through the time. So it would be useful to reduce their number and turn some prohibitions into permissions. The more children would know about the subject the less interest they might have.
