Methods of handling learning disabilities for children

It is said that a child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others but each one can flies the best way it can. Why compare each one against the other? Each is different, each on is special, and each one is beautiful. Indeed every child has a different way of learning and a special child also demands a unique way to learn new things. But the only important thing is that these special children who have some learning disability need special care and teaching method such as more explanation, severally repeating the information and more time and devoting to work on the skills. The teachers continuous guide for each student help them through the educational process.  As a Special education teacher you must use various techniques to promote special learning environment. Depending on the type of disability the child has teaching methods can include an individualized instruction like problem solving games and small group works. These special students may need some special accommodations in order to take an evaluation test.  Special education teachers must see that appropriate test materials are provided like having the questions dictated orally or longer time is allowed to take the test. Special education teachers must communicate regularly and work along with parents, school psychologists, speech therapists, physical therapists and other teachers. The teachers need to test the Students and list under categories and then pair in group. One of the most critical steps in teaching children with learning disabilities is detection and intervention of the exact disability he/ she has and the special education teachers are well trained to aid the students to overcome their disabilities. 

 The purpose of a special education classroom is to provide more intensive and individualized attention to the learners who need it. Such classes provide a unique service to physically and mentally challenged children. Some strategies can be incorporated by special education teachers in an ideal class to benefit all of students. Classroom centers are an effective way where students can be group and each center would concentrate in one area. The centers would be self sufficient in terms of instructions and all study materials. They must be helped to be a self guided and self explanatory. It should allow the teacher to move around among the centers and provide proper guidance. The Lessons within the different groups must rotate so that the teacher can introduce new lesson to a group, while having to check in the other who are doing some independent activities.  Theme method of teaching is also very effective in special education class. A theme can be anything like a current event which can hone the skill of reading, writing on a topic or narrating any historical event. Since there can be a range of proficiency levels in the class make sure to have different types of books and teaching materials available. A special Education course provides with an international certificate which enables an educator to handle the students with learning disabilities in the class.
