An engineering student of a private college in Agra was admitted to the psychiatry department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as he slipped into a state of shock after being allegedly sodomised during ragging.
Balram Giri, a student of the Sai Nath College on the Shamshabad road in Agra, is out of danger now, but will take time to recover, doctors said. Balram was forcibly intoxicated by seniors at the college hostel on July 23, before being sodomised.
After he returned to his room, a friend informed the college authorities. He was subsequently admitted to GR Hospital after he fell unconscious due to shock.

Engineering GraduationBalram was shifted to the general ward on Friday.His elder brother Vishwanath Giri, a software engineer in Gurgaon, said he received a call from his brother’s friend at 2:00 pm on the morning of July 24. “He said my brother was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital,” Vishwanath said.“When I reached there, Balram was unconscious. As soon as he regained consciousness, he said he was treated badly and fell unconscious again. His friends said he somehow reached the room, but could not sit and fell down. He kept crying. The only thing he said was that the seniors did something very bad with him,” he said.
