Sailors on the transports lower landing boats into the water. The soldiers climb down rope ladders and jump into the landing boats. Each boat holds about fifty soldiers.

 The landing boats pull away from the transports and cargo ships. They circle around until they form a line of about twenty landing boats. The circling makes many of the soldiers seasick. At a given signal, the line of landing boats heads for the beach. The beach has been bombarded from the air, but it is still strongly defended. The enemy opens fire on the incoming landing boats. The invading soldiers crouch low in the steel-sided boats. The first line of landing boats comes in to the beach. They come to a stop when the bottoms scrape along the sand.

The front of each boat drops down into the water and the soldiers wade out. Each soldier carries his rifle high in the air to keep it dry. The soldiers reach the beach and drop down. They open fire on the enemy.
