NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will showcase the original works of Claudia C. Forero in the exhibition "Unbound Perspectives." The event kicks off on June 10, 2017, and runs through June 30, 2017, with an opening reception on Thursday, June 15, from 6-8 pm.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Claudia C. Forero has navigated a tumultuous path to establish herself as a distinguished artist. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts with a Major in General History and pursued postgraduate studies in Communication Media at Universidad de los Andes. In 2009, she furthered her education with a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Art History from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano.
Forero's academic journey coincided with a period of intense conflict in Colombia, marked by violent clashes between drug cartels and the government. Despite the daily bombings in Bogotá, Forero's resolve to create art remained unshaken. Her experiences during this time profoundly influenced her artistic language, which emphasizes beauty and kindness. She believes that themes such as the human figure, the natural world, and the sacred or divine are timeless and should be celebrated even in our technologically advanced era.
Claudia C. Forero is a figurative expressionist whose choice of medium is dictated by the subject matter she explores. "I love art, and above all, I love painting," Forero states. "Its capacity to express, move, and evoke with colors, textures, and sometimes with scents the outer world that surrounds me and the world that lives inside me."
Forero's work is a testament to her belief in the enduring power of art to convey profound human experiences and emotions. Her paintings are not just visual representations but are imbued with a sense of the sacred and the beautiful, offering viewers a glimpse into both the external world and her inner life.
