Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) is a university topper whose luck seems to have run dry. Five years after graduation, he remains jobless, waiting for his first assignment as an architect. His fortunes change when he meets Priya (Vidya Balan), who becomes his lucky charm. In her presence, even the impossible becomes achievable for Raj, who desperately seeks her company in all his endeavors, from employment to love.
The film starts on a promising note but soon resorts to a conventional formula. The second half drags with Raj's repeated attempts to win a construction contract. The love triangle feels forced, merely serving as a pretext for a mandatory sangeet song sequence aimed at pleasing family and NRI audiences.
Shahid Kapoor initially appears to channel Amitabh Bachchan, especially in the early scenes where he mimics Bachchan's famous dialogue from "Namak Halaal." However, he soon settles into his usual self, delivering a sincere performance.
Vidya Balan brings a graceful charm to her role, remaining natural and engaging throughout the film.
The film intermittently connects with the viewer, but much is left to "Kismat" (fate). Despite its flaws, the movie has its moments, thanks to the performances of its lead actors.
"Kismat Konnection" is a film that tries to blend romance, luck, and destiny but falls short due to its reliance on conventional storytelling. While it has its moments, the film ultimately leaves much to be desired, relying heavily on the charm and performances of its lead actors.
