NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will showcase the original works of Washington, D.C. artist Leni Berliner in the exhibition "Divergent Realities." The event will commence on November 8, 2016, and run through November 30, 2016, with an opening reception on Thursday, November 10, from 6-8 PM.
Leni Berliner’s landscapes are a harmonious blend of tranquility and the vibrant beauty of nature. Her work spans a variety of natural scenes, from majestic mountain ranges to distant sunrises over the ocean. Berliner’s attention to detail is evident in her depiction of raindrops on water and the dynamic flow of rapids over rocks. Her ability to capture both stillness and movement makes her an exceptional chronicler of the natural world.
Berliner’s approach to composition is described as "intuitive." She selects scenes that hint at the moments before and after the image was captured: melting snow dripping, the orange glow of light, and the flowing river. Her color palettes are primarily naturalistic but are stylized to create emotional depth. Each piece, while complete in itself, tells a broader story.
Born in Massachusetts, Berliner now resides in Washington, D.C. She is a seasoned acrylic painter and is also skilled in three-dimensional mixed media.
Agora Gallery is excited to present "Divergent Realities," a dynamic group exhibition featuring six artists with distinct styles. The exhibition includes three abstract artists: one who builds thick physical surfaces with paint, another who uses texture to create trompe-l'oeil images, and a third who employs patterns to generate three-dimensional effects. These artists challenge the boundaries between the picture plane and the viewer's space.
Additionally, the exhibition features a watercolor artist who creates delicate, monochromatic portrayals of life's small details, a landscape artist who depicts nature in dynamic, color-blocked patterns, and a pencil artist whose realistic works reflect personal experiences. Together, these artists create a visual universe filled with unique rules, possibilities, and impossibilities. The diverse aesthetics of these artists are most striking when viewed together, highlighting each artist's unique perspective.
By bringing together such a diverse group of artists, "Divergent Realities" offers a unique opportunity to explore the myriad ways in which art can interpret and transform our understanding of the world.
