The San Diego Chargers, in collaboration with the Spanos family, have commissioned Dustin Slade, the Creative Director of the Slade Project, to craft a unique piece of fine art that encapsulates the storied history of the Chargers football team.
The mixed media artwork is a vibrant tapestry that weaves together original photography, football cards, game-used jerseys, and other memorabilia collected over more than five decades. This masterpiece celebrates the Chargers' rich history and the achievements of its players, coaches, executives, and owners.
"We're thrilled to have such a distinctive piece of art that honors the team's illustrious past," said A.G. Spanos, the Chargers' Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer.
"We're proud to display a Chargers fan's special artwork in a prominent place in Chargers Park," Spanos added. This artwork is not just a visual treat but a testament to the team's enduring legacy and the passion of its fans.
"As lifelong Charger fans, my family and I are deeply honored to create this artwork for the Chargers and the Spanos Family," said Dustin Slade. "Our aim is to craft something extraordinary; a conversation piece that narrates the story of the organization."
The Slade Project is a collaborative effort involving three artists who integrate a collector's photography and other tangible possessions into fine art. Dustin Slade works closely with the collector to design the layout of the artwork. In the second phase, Jesse and C.W. Slade transition the digital imagery to canvas, employing a variety of colors, materials, and techniques preferred by the collector to further express the story conveyed through the digital imagery.
The mixed media artwork commissioned by the San Diego Chargers and the Spanos family is more than just a piece of art; it is a celebration of the team's rich history and the passion of its fans. Through the collaborative efforts of the Slade Project, this artwork stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Chargers.
