NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery is set to showcase the original works of Lisburn artist Robert Ellison in the "Emerging Visions" exhibition. The event will run from January 21, 2017, to February 10, 2017, with an opening reception on Thursday, January 26, from 6-8 PM.
Robert Ellison’s paintings are a masterful blend of realism and abstraction, creating a visual experience that is both captivating and thought-provoking. Utilizing oils and acrylics on canvas, Ellison captures everyday subjects such as flowers, fields of grass, and horses in motion with striking detail. However, he also emphasizes the texture of the paint itself, mixing broad, thick strokes with sharp, intricate lines to create compositions that keep the viewer’s eye in constant motion.
Ellison’s distinctive color palette is influenced by masters like Van Gogh, Matisse, and Chaim Soutine. He takes their intense colors and softens them, creating dynamic and vivid pictures that maintain a deep sense of harmony and balance. This approach reflects Ellison’s view of the world around him. “My objective as a painter,” he says, “is to express the essence of what I experience.”
The "Emerging Visions" exhibition will feature a diverse group of artists, each bringing their unique perspective and technique to the gallery. The featured artists include:
