Everything’s gone green, from fashion to frivolous, we are spending more time and effort on ensuring that we leave a legacy of change for the next generation.
It started back in the 902s, even earlier if you can picture your uncles, or parents or grandparents even, wearing Berkinstocks and smelling of patchouli oil, I can.
I grew up in San Diego, going to SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, listening from an early age how these beautiful creatures I was seeing would some day be gone because of something we as a species did.
I do my part I feel, at least I am trying. I don’t leave the water running while I brush my teeth, I switch off the lights whenever I leave a room, I am personally a vegetarian, I recycle.
But one person, doesn’t change that much….Right?
Wrong, one person choosing to conserve, to be aware makes a huge difference.
I can prove this with the story of Mango.
She was less than three years old and had spent most of her life locked behind bars at the SPCA, with no one to pet her or snuggle with her. That changed because of one person.
My niece had been wanting a puppy for two years and she had finally talked her mother into getting her one. Her mom was going to go through a breeder or the newspaper to buy a dog.
My niece wouldn’t hear of it. She refused to buy a puppy when she knew that so many dogs were lost and abandoned sitting in cages with no home or hope.
So, at her insistence they went to the SPCA in Sacramento, wandered through the kennels that smelled of urine and cleaning chemicals.
The air was loud with barking, whining. She saw puppies and cute little dogs, all standing at the bars begging to be pet and then she saw, Mango.
Mango just lay there on her little bed, eyes huge and sad, listless, depressed. (Yes dogs can be depressed).
My niece asked to see her. The sad depressed dog was brought to the little interview room and the moment she saw my niece she became a wiggling mess of whipping tail and lapping tongue. She wanted nothing else but to be pet.
And because my niece chose to adopt a full grown dog, to help out and make a difference, she changed the life of Mango.
You can now meet Mango from time to time at Image ProvoCateur, but be warned, she loooooooves people and couldn’t be happier with her life.
At Image ProvoCateur it means a lot to us to be able to make a difference. Not just for our clients day to day, but for the environment for the years to come.
