You want to have a great relationship with your apartment neighbors. But what happens when they get a little too close for your liking? You don’t want to be rude,Should I Move In With My Friend Articles but you also would like to have a certain amount of space.


It can be tricky dealing with neighbors who are a little creepy. Its probably not a good idea to offend them or make sightings between the two of you awkward. Lets be honest, you want to have some level of comfort with them. After all they are you neighbor. We have listed some tips that should help you get through some uncomfortable situations with your neighbor.


Be Yourself


If you don’t really enjoy talking with your neighbor then don’t do anything that would leave some sort of impression  that your that type of person.  There is not need to invite them to a party you might be throwing or bake them cookies. You can say “hello” in the hallway but you probably want to limit it at that. 


Don’t Send The Wrong Signals


Maybe you have come across a neighbor that wants to be one of your good friends. Usually they will get the picture when you turn down their request to do something. Just make sure your conversations with them are not too lengthly.  And don’t slip a Christmas card underneath their door after you have tried to avoid contact with them for some time.


If you neighbor does still now recognize that your trying to avoid them, let them know that “your very busy” and “you will be busy for a very long time”. You don’t have to explain why. In most cases this will be enough.


What If Things Get Out Of Hand


Now you may come across some situations where your words don’t help.  If some gets angry and rude follow these tips:


  • Don’t escalate the situations by getting angry
  • Document any situations where you feel you have been harassed
  • Talk with the apartment manager or even a lawyer.
