Menopause, as many things in life, is a completely natural part of the cycle of life. For many women around the world it is considered with mixed emotions. Welcomed by many, menopause is resented and even cursed by many more as a symbol of passing youth and the frailty of coming age.
In addition to that mixed emotions, the symptoms can be aggravating in their own right. The final result of menopause is the end of a woman’s ability to bear children.
There are three different types of menopause in women. Knowing the type of menopause that you are experiencing can assist you in treating the symptoms and understanding and accepting the course of events.
1) Natural menopause. This is the most natural state of menopause and is the direct result of aging and part of the cycle of life.
2) Medical or surgical menopause. This is the result of surgeries such as hysterectomies with ovary removal or chemotherapy.
3) Cold turkey menopause. This is the result of being removed from menopausal hormone therapy as the result of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Menopause will affect every woman differently. While there are many symptoms that are fairly universal and common among those experiencing menopause around the world the overall experience will be different from woman to woman.
Common sings of menopause include the following:
1) Night sweats.
2) Hot flashes.
3) Extreme irritability.
4) Exhaustion.
5) Weight gain.
6) Headaches.
7) Mood swings.
8) Reduced sex drive.
9) Fluid retention.
10) Irregular periods.
There is no cure for the symptoms of menopause. Treatments will vary widely and according to the severity of the symptoms. Menopause is a natural part of the evolution of the human body. It is a normal and often necessary part of aging. Whatever treatment options you are considering for your symptoms you should carefully discuss them with your doctor before committing. Each treatment option will hold very specific risks that you should be completely aware of before undergoing that particular treatment.
Menopause in women is a natural process and while it may never be cheered or welcomed with open arms it should not be met with the fear and derision it has incurred in the days of the past.
