Vacuum Cleaner Review: Riccar RSL4 lightweight upright vacuum

The Riccar RSL4 vacuum is one of the best sellers in Wooster Ohio. Here are the features that make that so.

First of all, the Riccar RSL4 is only eight pounds in weight. This is the same weight as the popular Oreck vacuum cleaner. The Oreck and Riccar lightweights have a lot in common. They both weigh eight pounds, they both are easy to push, they both use a filter bag, and neither one has attachments.

The Riccar RSL4 vacuum uses a 5.5 amp motor which is a little more powerful than the 4 amp Oreck motor. The Riccar RSL4 also uses paper liners that are very similar in quality and size to the Oreck vacuum cleaner bags. They are both micron filtration bags.

The RSL4 has a featre that sets it apart from the other Riccar vacuum cleaners. It has a two speed motor. The higher speed setting is used for vacuuming carpet. The lower setting is used when vacuuming bare floors, whether they be tile, wood, or linoleum.

The advantage of having a revolving brush on bare floors is that the brushes, which are natural fiber, will scrub out the grit and dirt between the cracks in the floor, between tiles, and between slats in a real wood floor.

The reason you want a slower brush when vacuuming bare floors is because the brush will not flip dirt out the back of the vacuum. With a lower speed roller, the vacuum will actually pick up the dirt off of a bare floor, and leave the floor feeling smooth to the touch. All the grit will be gone.

The Riccar RSL4 usually comes with a small canister vacuum cleaner to use on carpeted steps, upholstery, and inside the car. Because the Riccar RSL4 does not come with attachments, the canister vacuum is useful.

The only drawback with the lightweight vacuums is the lack of suction. The motors are small and do not deliver enough suction for deep cleaning. This type of vacuum cleaner works very well with lower pile carpeting or Berber carpet.

The weight comes in very handy, if you are carrying the vacuum up and down stairs to clean. It’s also a bonus if you have trouble carrying heavier vacuums. Most upright vacuum cleaners weigh about 15 or 16 pounds.

I would recommend getting our Riccar vacuum cleaner only from a nearby independent dealer. They can honor the factory warranty. Buying online voids the warranty, as dealers are not permitted to sell outside their area.
