Wooden Block Exercises – A Good Learning Method for Children

One of the most effective methods that can help stimulate the creative side of children is to have them do activities such as building a wooden block. When it comes to building blocks, there really isn’t the right or wrong way to do it, because it is up to the children what structure that they want to build. Hence, the block set is considered to be the perfect activities for not only babies, but also young kids at school.

Let’s start from babies and how building wooden blocks can help them develop many useful skills. First, you just have to make sure that the block set is one that’s been designed for babies. This means that the pieces of the wooden block should be big enough so the baby can’t swallow them by accident and that they should all have smooth edges as to not cause any unwanted injuries. As they learn to pick up the pieces with their fingers and hold them, you are already teaching the baby to develop their motor skills. Further, building the blocks will help stimulate their sense of touch, hearing, and sight. 

For young children, a wooden block set can be even more useful. There’s a reason why the blocks are made in various shapes, colors, sizes and weight – it’s to attract kids to play with them. Toddlers usually have a higher level of imagination and creativity compared to babies.  So the blocks provide the kids with more options to explore and how they play with the blocks. For example, teachers can use wooden blocks in the form of numbers to teach addition and subtraction. Learning math using the block is infinitely more interesting rather than writing the numbers down in books. The whole class can all participate counting the numbers one by one.
