Villas have been a source of prestige and luxury since the time it has come to existence. First being restricted only to noble and elite, it is still accessible to only the rich people who can afford having the luxuries of this kind.
Villa, original an ancient roman country house for upper-class people, is nowadays referred to as different types and sizes of residential structures. These structures can be of suburban nature or wild land urban in style. Villas have their origin from ancient roman time. At that time, only the elite people had access to those villas. Numerous villas of this kind are present in the England. At the end of Northern Roman reign, these villas were burned and looted by the Anglo-Saxon invaders in the fifth century. The remaining villas were converted into monasteries thus they got preserved in this way. After the Roman era, the villa was referred to as a fortified farmstead.
In the 14th to 15th century, a villa again got the form of the country house. These villas were accompanied with Quattro cento villa gardens which were then considered an essential link between indoor building and the outside world. These gardens also provided a look of architectural heritage. Andrea Palladio was particularly famous for his unique designs of villas in the setting of Venice culture. His designs often had unified farm buildings to form extended villas. Some examples of villas created by him are the Villa Emo, the Villa Godi, the Villa ForniCerato, the Villa Capra La Rotonda and Villa Foscari.
Indigo Jones, following a Palladian architecture style of another country, designed and built the Queen’s House in the early 17th century. The Palladian style transformed to Neo-Palladian style by the end of the century and so the villas at that time followed the neo-Palladian style. The same style was followed in 18th century. In the 19th century, the meaning of villa got extended to any large suburban house that had agriculture architecture with it. During the World War I, any suburban bungalow was referred to as a villa.
