As I was growing up every now and then my grandparents would remind me of the whole life insurance they started for me when I was younger. I always said thank you but I never really understood why they made such a big deal about it; especially since I did not think that I was going anywhere and it really was not something that I could hold or play with at the time.

Now that I am older,Whole Life Insurance Is A Gift Articles I can appreciate the gift that my grandparents gave me. I have a spouse and several children and realize how important whole life insurance is. No one likes to think about not being here tomorrow. We need to be able to look a little into the future in order to protect the ones that we hold dear to us.

Whole life insurance or universal life is meant to compensate my family if something should ever happen to me. If I should die then that means my household will be lacking my income My loved ones will be in mourning and they will be worrying about how they maintain the lifestyle that I help build.

However, my grandparents also knew that the life insurance policy could help me when I was alive, as well. Every whole life policy holds a cash value much like universal life. This cash value can be borrowed against if my family and I should ever be in a tight financial crunch. Or I can decide to cash in the policy if that is something that I would ever need to do.

I realize now in my more mature years, that a whole life insurance policy would have been more expensive for me to buy than term life insurance. However, the term life insurance would eventually come to an end.

My grandparents essentially gave me a saving account that was tax-free. It was a saving account with choices and options that could help me while I am still alive.
