Consider a Breast Lift for Enhancement
A breast lift is one of the most complicated breast enhancement procedures. For patients with sagging breasts, cosmetic surgeons have developed techniques to provide some improvements in the look of the breasts.
Also known as a mastopexy,
a breast lift is one of the most common breast enhancement procedures. It can be performed with other procedures such as a breast reduction or breast implants. It is performed to remove excess skin in the breasts that results in sagging. This is most common among older women whose skin loses elasticity with age. There are many incision techniques plastic surgeons will use to perform a breast lift. However, the anchor incision is the most common. Best suited for a full breast lift, it is most commonly used because it consistently produces the desired shape and lift most patient want. A modified mastopexy uses a periareolar incision. However, this technique cannot produce a dramatic change and is better-suited for patients who are also having an augmentation. Each incision creates skin flaps underneath the breast and around the nipple to remove the excess skin, and discreetly suture the breasts. The surgeon will consider many conditions of the patient's breasts' before performing the procedure; the size and shape of your breast, the degree of sagging, the elasticity and quality of the skin, and the position and size of your areolas are all factors for helping the surgeon determine the breast lift technique.
Although a mastopexy is performed under local anesthesia, it is not considered a dangerous procedure. After administering the anesthesia, the cosmetic surgeon will begin the procedure by making a slight incision around the nipple area of the breast going down to its center. Any excess skin found along this area is removed and the reshaping of the breast begins. The breast tissue in the underlying portion is carefully lifted to improve the breast’s firmness and contour appearance. For an extensive breast lift, the areola and the nipple are repositioned to achieve a more youthful height. In many cases, the surgeon will reduce the size of the areola by making a skin excision near the perimeter. The surgeon will then tighten the remaining skin and close the incisions. A very good cosmetic surgeon will reduce the risk scarring. However, each incision technique can produce different levels of scarring.
Consider a mastopexy in conjunction with other breast enhancement procedures. Although it is not a dangerous procedure, it will require general anesthesia, and some skill to provide the best results. A skilled plastic surgeon can perform this procedure along with the insertion of implants or a reduction.
