Plastic surgery is a great way to feel better and look younger. One of the best procedures to accomplish these goals is a facelift. What many people do not realize is that there are in fact many different procedures that fall under the category of a facelift. Each operation addresses a different problem and they each provide singular advantages. Often because of how many different problems can be addressed people opt to have several of these done in concert with each other to achieve results that are even better.
The traditional facelift involves am incision along the hairline or just above it to hide the scar. Afterwards the skin and muscle are literally lifted up to smooth out the forehead,
lift the cheeks and jaw line and reduce drooping over the eyes. It is like pulling the fitted sheet on a bed tighter in that it smoothes out the skin by tightening the fit of the face. There also smaller versions of this designed to specifically improve the forehead.
There are also a number of non-surgical cosmetic procedures that are used to make the face look better and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The most common and popular is Botox. This uses a very small amount of an incredibly powerful neurotoxin to paralyze the muscles and smooth out crows feet and forehead wrinkles. It can be done in a matter of minutes and the results last from three to six months.
Also popular are chemical peels and dermabrasion. These applications remove the outermost layer of dermis and reduce the appearance of fine lines. These work the same way that buffing a scratch out of a car does. It reduces the depth of the line by reducing the overall depth of the skin.
Back on the surgery side of things a lot of people have what is called blepharoplasty as a type of facelift.
Technically it as an eyelid lift but it definitely creates more youthful and bright eyes. By slightly raising the upper or reducing the lower bags under the eyes and that tired look disappear. Instead the whole area looks firm and well rested.
For people who are in the final stages of serious weight loss there is an operation used to make the face look less chubby. It is facial liposuction and it takes the extra fat around the cheeks chin and neck and makes the cheekbones and jaw line more apparent. This is a good option for some people because of the tendency for fat to be hard to lose around the head.
There is no wrong way to have a facelift it just depends on what needs to be addressed. For some people it is fine lines and wrinkles. For other it is the fact that they always look tired. Others want more definition in their face. Whatever the reason or cause there is a treatment out there.
