When we do something we enjoy, our brains start to release chemicals in our body. But when we keep doing that thing over and over, our brain is releasing so much chemicals that it will short circuit and we become addicted.

That’s why is very easy to become addicted to a substance (caffeine – from coffee,Games addiction: Myth or reality? Articles nicotine – from cigarette, pain killers, or worst, drugs), or an activity (work, watching TV, playing computer games). The term video-game addiction encompasses all genres of games, but it is often associated with MMOG’s (Massively Multiplayer Online Games).

But are computer games really that bad?

According to Dr. Brent Conrad: “Most people can play most games without becoming addicted, just as most adults can drink alcohol on occasion without becoming addicted or gamble from time to time without losing their life savings”. Scientists are discovering with recent research that the genes which people inherit may include “addictive genes”. This is why some people can play games, try a substance and never become addicted, have good grades, or get a rise at work, have lots of friends, etc, and for others once is enough to make them addicted.

Till 2007, it was believed that only those between 12 – 20 years old can became or have greater chances to become addicted to games. Earlier research proved that actually, those that became addicted are between 25 – 40 years old.

For example one such addict in South Korea fatally collapsed after playing an online game for 86 hours straight without eating or sleeping. In the same month another man dies after playing 32 hours without breaks.

A three-month-old South Korean girl starved to death after her parents repeatedly left her alone for 12-hour stretches to rendezvous at a local Internet cafe, where they were nurturing a virtual child through a computer game known as “Prius Online.” While online, the couple were raising a virtual daughter seemingly as a form of escapism from their own lives. Both parents recently became unemployed and their baby had been born prematurely. The officer told the press: “The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life, because they didn’t have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby…They indulged themselves in the on-line game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby.”

In 2005, a couple was arrested when their 4-month-old daughter died after being left alone by the couple for hours. The mother and father reportedly had gone to a nearby Internet café, to play World of Warcraft. The couple reportedly told police, "We were thinking of playing for just an hour or two and returning home like usual, but the game took longer that day.".

Another incident happened in 2009, when a boy from Ohio killed his mother and wounded his father, because he was prohibited to play Halo 3 (a first-person shooter). His father Mark, who was shot in the head and survived, testified that his son came into the room and asked: "Would you guys close your eyes? I have a surprise for you."

Until 2010, more and more articles got in the media, but for obvious reasons I’m not going to post them.

Computer gaming has devastating consequences on human behavior.  It has destroyed and taken away lives. People have just come to realize the serious implications this addictive behavior is having on their lives. If you want to get a rid of this serious addiction I developed a product that helps you go through this process using a quick and efficient technique: hypnosis.
