Liposuction Versus Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty surgery is a major surgery that is carried out to help people lessen slack, fat, and floppy skin around the abdomen.
A tummy tuck or a liposuction is exactly what you need if you wish to have a flatter abdomen. These are the only options people have when their flaccid stomachs do not respond to diets or exercise. Even though having a tummy tuck performed is a rather complete makeover of the abdominal region,
most of the cases make do with a mere liposuction.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is perhaps the best surgical procedure carried out to do away with excess fat at the same time as stretching the skin for a firmer abdomen. A general anesthesia can be administered to perform a tummy tuck. The procedure starts by making an incision from one hip bone to the other, while the skin surrounding the belly button is also cut to free the skin around the abdomen. Excessive fat is removed and the skin is detached from the abdomen. The tightening of abdominal muscles is also available which is easily carried out by stitching them together. The procedure is finished by pulling down and cutting off the excess skin. A new belly button is formed by a fresh hole and then the incisions are stitched together.
Considering that a tummy tuck is a major surgery, it poses rather significant risks as well. Complications that occur during surgery or the administration of anesthesia are some well-known hazards. Hence, getting a tummy tuck should only be considered if you seriously need to lose weight and remove excess skin.
Liposuction
A liposuction only requires a few incisions around the abdomen are made during liposuction to interest the surgical tools. In liposuction, a surgical vacuum is used to suck out extra fat from the body after which the incisions are stitched. General anesthesia is not usually preferred for liposuction. In comparison to a tummy tuck, extra skin is usually left after liposuction, but the shrinking of skin after getting rid of body fat compensates for it. Consider a tummy going back to normal after a pregnancy and you would know exactly what it is like.
Patients recover rapidly after liposuction as it is not as hurtful as a tummy tuck and patients usually recover in merely 3 days and go back to work. On the other hand, a complete tummy tuck can take around a couple months till a year to completely recover and enjoy the beautiful new look, but large scars are still there, while liposuction leaves a few tiny scars.
