MD Reviews – How to Write One

Step 1 – All reviews should come from a personal experience. Take a minute to think back and recollect your time spent with the physician in order to properly gauge your experience to better write out your thoughts on the matter. If you are writing a negative review, have the details available to back it up. Nobody wants to hear about the affect without cause. Make a basic outline in your head and know where you’re headed with it.

Step 2 – To obtain a better idea of the format you’ll be dealing with, check out a few of the online review sites around the web. There are quite a few to choose from. Spend time familiarizing yourself with the content and the structure, as well as what people tend to look for. This can be determined in many cases through the “did you find this review helpful” function, which allows users to rate the content, based on how well it met their needs. While not all sites use this function, the ones that do will provide you with a good idea of what others are looking for.

Step 3 – Once you’ve run through a few different sites, choose the one that best suits your writing style. Some will allow longer entrees, while others will have a questionnaire-type structure. You may even decide to write multiple entries for different sites.

Step 4 – When writing your entry, try to discuss all aspects of the subject you are reviewing. For example, if you are writing about a particular physician, try to outline how they interacted with you, their education level, the staff at the office, and any other aspects that you, yourself would find important if you were researching the physician.

Step 5 – Once you’re finished with the entry, take a minute to proofread it. Keep in mind that others will be looking to your content to provide them with information they can use in making their own decision. While some emotion can play into your content, try not to stray too far from the facts. Try to put yourself in the physician’s shoes to gain additional perspective. You want to be truthful, but fair at the same time. A rant will generally not help people, but rather turn them to the next review on the list.
