Bad breath, or Halitosis to give it its correct name, is often the result of poor oral hygiene. This might be because of a poor brushing technique which leaves food and debris trapped between teeth giving a home to colonies of bacteria which can then attack our teeth and gums. Once the bacteria sets up home in our mouths and become established it can be difficult to correct if nothing in your oral hygiene regime changes. Below are some tips on how you can achieve great oral hygiene and eliminate bad breath.

Bad breath,Some Tips to Avoid Bad Breath Articles or Halitosis to give it its correct name, is often the result of poor oral hygiene.

Obviously it is really important to have a good toothbrush and have a good brushing technique as this will remove most of the food and bacteria so choose a good brand of toothbrush which is comfortable to hold when brushing. On top of brushing it is important to floss between teeth at least once a day to ensure there is no build up of nasty stuff between the teeth. A good tip is to floss your teeth before you brush them in the morning so you can build up a habit. There are many different types of floss available but try to use waxed floss as you will find that this glides between the teeth more easily. If you find that flossing the back teeth is a little tricky then look for a product which flosses your teeth but has a handle so that you can reach the back teeth more easily; these are widely available.

Bacteria can form on the tongue from trapped food particles and this will cause a strong odour so the next thing you should use is a tongue scraper. A good tongue scraper will remove bacteria, dead cells and tiny food particles trapped on the grooved surface of the tongue. Removing these from the tongue will help you triumph over bad breath easily.

It is also wise to use an anti-bacterial mouth wash and then you can be sure you are doing everything you can in order to stop bacteria colonizing in your mouth. There are many great mouth washes on the market so do a little experimenting until you find one that works well for you.

Following the above tips will ensure you have great oral hygiene and bad breath will be a thing of the past but in addition to the advice above it is important to see a dentist on a regular basis because a dentist may be able to spot a problem early giving you the best chance to correct it.
