An obese Southland woman whose husband died six months before she gave birth to their son decided to lose weight so she could be there for her child as he grew up.
Dipton's Louise Andrews shed 46kg in the next two and a half years; going from 112.5kg in 2010 to 67kg today.
She has been selected as the South Island finalist in 2012 Weight Watchers Healthy Life Awards.
GM Diet
Mrs Andrews is currently in Sydney with six other Australasian finalists for a national judging week, with the winner to be announced next month.
Negative Calorie
Mrs Andrews, 31, said from Sydney yesterday that her 30-year-old husband Hamish died from cancer when she was three months' pregnant.
After having her son Jonathan she was overweight and unhealthy, suffering from flus, infections and always feeling run down, she said.
"I knew I needed to he healthy and fit and be there for my son in the future."
