There are several common, but rarely discussed things that can develop on a guy literally overnight that are usually mistaken for an STD, namely genital warts or herpes. Finding out what they are and what to do about them beforehand can save you a lot of grief down the road.

If you ever look "down there" one day and notice something that wasn't there before... that you don't think should be there... don't panic.

At least not just yet.

That's because ever since I started my website on the subject,The 3 Harmless Things Guys Usually Mistake For An STD Articles I realized there were several very common things a lot of guys tend to get that are often mistaken for an STD, namely genital warts or herpes. And since as high as 30% of all guys can have something like this happen to them in their lifetime (any of them can spring up literally overnight), knowing the facts can save you a lot of trouble down the road.

So here are the most common mistakes guys make, what they are, and what you should do about them:

Mistake #1. Pearly Penile Papules - These are usually white gland-like things that form in a ring around the rim of the head of your penis (before the head meets the shaft), and can sometimes even form on the underside of the head as well. They can vary in length and how densely they form. But don't worry, they are completely harmless. Do not try to remove them or else they will bleed and you will have larger problems than before you started. Penile papules thrive a lot on moisture, so keeping the area very dry can sometimes reduce their size, but will never get rid of them altogether. If your case is particularly bad, there is a laser procedure you can get from a doctor, but almost all cases of this are only noticible to the guy who has them and it is rare for anyone else who might see them to really take notice.

Mistake #2. Fordyce Spots - These are usually a lot of tiny bumps that form around the shaft of your penis that are usually the same color as the surrounding skin, but can also result in small "mole-like" patches that are darker than the surrounding skin. Sometimes they look like goose bumps. These are commonly mistaken for genital warts, but they are quite harmless and nothing bad will ever happen to you because of them. Some guys have asked me if there are any ways of getting rid of them, and from the research I've done the only thing that seems to be an option for guys with extreme cases is laser treatment from a doctor. But just like the penile papules, almost all cases of Fordyce spots are most noticible only to the guy who has them, and will probably not even be noticed by anyone else who might be looking down there.

Mistake #3. Male Yeast Infection - Believe it or not, it is actually possible for guys to get yeast infections. This most commonly happens by having it spread to you by a woman who has a problem with recurring yeast infections. She doesn't even have to have any visible signs for it to spread to you, either. Three or four days after you have sex, red pimple-like spots and/or red rashes can appear on and around the head of your penis. Left untreated, this can spread and get much worse. In the long run, it is generally harmless but can itch very badly, sometimes to the point of the constant urge to scratch. You're going to want to get rid of this as fast as possible, so dob generous amounts of castor oil on there to get it under control while you go get some anti-yeast infection cream to take care of the rest.

I realize words can only help to an extent, so for pictures of these and more, feel free to check out my website to get an even better fix on identifying these so you can rest easier should you ever find them on you.
