Traveler's Read Here- You Need Insurance
If you are going to go on a trip anytime soon you might want to look into traveler's insurance to make sure that anything that could happen will be covered.
If you are planning to travel abroad then you have probably noticed that the checklist is much longer than that for domestic travel. You want to make sure that you have all documents including your passport,
international driver's permit and insurance documents in order. You also probably have on your list to get a SIM card for your cell phone so that you won't find yourself without service but have you thought about your health insurance.
It can be devastating to arrive in a foreign country and be in need of health care but this situation can be made worse by discovering that your current health insurance policy won't cover you for treatment while traveling abroad. International medical treatment can add up quickly and without valid medical insurance you may even find yourself in a situation of not being able to receive treatment.
Many unsuspecting Americans travel abroad each year, failing to realize that their health insurance benefits will not be extended into a foreign country. Some insurance policies will cover you, however many will not and it is important to find out the limitations of your health insurance policy before you travel.
This does not mean that you can not travel internationally but what it does mean is that you will need to pick up a travelers health insurance plan before you get on that flight. They are very moderately priced because for the most part people only need this type of insurance for a few weeks and because most people don't find the need to receive medical treatment while they are overseas. This really helps keep the costs down.
For the most part traveler's health insurance will provide you with the emergency coverage you need to anywhere that you will be traveling and can be designed for the time frame that you will be traveling in terms as little as one week up to as many as 6 months depending on the length of your stay. If you are going to school overseas then it is best to check directly with your health insurance company to see if they offer any coverage specifically designed for overseas students.
