Boosting your metabolism is one of the best things a woman can do to lose pounds. Some people have a very speedy metabolism,Women and Metabolism Articles while other people have slow ones. It is also an unfair fact that men tend to burn more calories than women, even when they are at rest. Unfortunately, we can't control our age, gender, or genetics, but there are some other way that us ladies rev up our own metabolism.

· Building muscle is a great way to allow your body to keep burning calories, even when we're doing nothing.

· Try stepping up your workout routine by adding more aerobic exercises. It may not build muscle, but hours after your workout it will do wonders for your metabolism. High intensity exercises like jogging will be greatly beneficial.

· Hydrate yourself. Your body needs water to process calories, and even being a tiny bit dehydrated will slow down your metabolism. Drink water or unsweetened beverages. Also try to snack on fresh fruits and veggies which are also full of fluid.

· Believe it or not, energy drinks can give your metabolism the boost you may need. Some ingredients such as caffeine and taurine can increase the amount of energy that your body uses and help you burn fat. However, these drinks can also cause issues for people, so you must be careful when using them.

· Don't be afraid to snack because eating more often can actually help you lose weight. After large meals, your metabolism slows down and having a small meal or snack every three to four hours can keep it moving and in turn you will burn calories. People who snack regularly also tend to eat less during actual meals as well.

· I bet you didn't know that spicy foods can kick your metabolism up a few notches. Eating these types of foods often can benefit you in the long run.

· Protein is also very important in your diet. Your body will burn more calories digesting protein rather than fat or carbs. Some healthy proteins include turkey, fish, white meat, tofu, nuts, and eggs.

· If you happen to be a coffee drinker, coffee can actually increase your metabolic rate when it is taken in moderation. Along with coffee, green tea offers both caffeine and catechins, which are known to speed up your metabolism.

· Always remember to avoid crash diets. Crash diets are absolutely horrible for anyone who wants to speed up their metabolism. These diets do tend get you to lose pounds, however you are mostly losing muscle which will then slow your metabolism down making your body burn less calories.

Your best bet to increase your metabolism is to stay active and be sure to burn muscle. The more you move around, the more muscle you will develop, and with more muscle your body will burn a greater amount of calories. Try adding a workout routine to your morning schedule which will help you overall as the day goes on, too.
