There are some men who would complain about some pain in their prostate gland and would often just ignore it as something of an anomaly.
They would not consider that this is already a symptom of a relatively common illness called prostatitis. This is especially true,
since the pain and the other symptoms of prostatitis would often wax and wane.
Another reason why prostatitis is commonly ignored is because there is not much awareness about it. People cannot quickly think of this disease once they feel some pain in their prostate glands. As such, they do not know the proper way to treat the sickness whenever they contract it.
It is important then, to know more about prostatitis in order to find out ways on how to avoid it as well as for sufferers to learn on how to treat it.
What is Prostatitis:
Simply put, prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland. There are actually different types of prostatitis that are classified according to the different ways that they infect and affect the patient. They are segregated on the following factors: white blood cells (WBCs) in the urine, duration of symptoms and bacteria cultured from the urine.
Currently, there are four classifications for it namely; acute prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, and Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis.
Causes of Prostatitis:
Prostatitis is a condition that is caused by a combination of factors. These factors range from psychological issues, to infections that occur in the body’s other systems.
A cause of prostatitis is said to be stress or anxiety to the person. Stress can cause the body to tighten up which leads to muscle tension in the pelvic area. This can result in the pelvis being very sensitive and provide a heightened sense of pain.
Another common theory nowadays is that yeast infection and prostatitis are highly related. As yeast is fungus based, it debunks the theory that prostatitis is caused by bacteria. The idea is that males who would have unprotected sex with women who have some form of vaginal yeast infection would also contract the infection in their prostates.
This is a valid reason as to why anti-bacterial medication can’t seem to help in trying to provide relief for people who are suffering from prostatitis.
Treatment for Male Yeast Infection and Prostatitis
Treatment for prostatitis would of course vary depending of the classification that you would have. Since the most common type is the chronic pelvic pain syndrome, with the other classifications being considered rare cases, this article can focus on it.
For stress related prostatitis, doctors would recommend different kinds of physical therapy. Digital prostate massages, trigger point therapy in the pelvis area, and relaxation therapy are supposed to bring about benefits for sufferers of prostatitis through loosening the tight muscles that can cause the pain.
