It is taken from the fine under-hair of the Asiatic Falconeri goat which is shed only once a year, in spring, producing just 100 to 150 g. This cashmere undercoat has a fiber diameter of less than 19 microns, it is ultra-fine and extremely dense part of the fleece with excellent heat retention properties enabling Falconeri goats to withstand the extremely cold climatic conditions at altitudes that exceed 5,000 m. d.   Mohair refers to the wool taken from the spiral-horned angora goats from the Turkish city of Ankara, whilst angora rabbits are the source for the textile "angora". It is believed that these goats come from Tibet; these are delicate animals but do not hunt and survive with good food and clean surroundings. Mohair wool from small angora goats is found to be of finest quality, whilst those taken from adult angora are not considered desirable.  Originally, this wool was only used for the garments of the sultan.
